The story of The Pond, in the words of the people who built it.
The Pond is a modded Minecraft survival server with high emphasis on the community. Players mainly focus on creating big settlements with unique styles and helping each other. A good and well known comparison could be the Hermitcraft server, that’s also focused on simply having fun! The server was founded by Koi Boi in February of 2024. Koi Boi has since stepped back from leading The Pond and its developments, turning the server and mod pack over to SlyHatchet, Pino, Sarmat, and the rest of the staff.

Since the start of the server, we’ve had three wonderful seasons, each one full to the brim with their own unique adventures, mysteries, and shenanigans from so many wonderful players. Keeping the spirit of what started The Pond to begin with.

The Pond Season 1 was a lot shorter than its succeeding worlds and was more of a test as the community initially took shape. The core ideals of the modpack were formed here, and with lessons learned from this season we began the next season.

Season 2 started in June 2024 and ran for almost a year. Over the course of this Season many of the people who had joined the Discord in its infancy were accepted into the community and so as a result a lot of the long standing players first experience of the server was from Season 2.

The slow modpack bloat and a general desire amongst the players to try something new motivated the start of the Season 3 modpack, which began in June of 2025. With a fresh new terrain generation, focus on player freedom and a heavy emphasis on modpack optimisation, Season 3 represents all that the Pond has learned since it was founded.

We are always listening to feedback from our community to decide if and when a clean slate is needed to keep our Pond from getting stagnant.
The Pond houses many creative people. The unique builds and personalities each person brings to the server truly makes the perfect environment for timeless moments and unforgettable memories. Our community is the soul of The Pond, and every day we strive to continue growing. Whether you are a master builder, a redstone technician, a diligent farmer, or a curious cave diver, we encourage you to apply!
Our modpack is a 1.20.1 Fabric modpack on Modrinth, designed to provide a vanilla+ experience to our players. We aimed to retain that classic Minecraft survival feel with some great additions to world generation, decoration, mobs, farming, and more! A lot of time was spent on improving performance for version 3.0 of the pack in an effort to make it accessible to as many players as possible.
One thing of note, while create is in the modpack it’s only limited to decorations to avoid any issues with performance.

- Casual Roleplay, people create unique stories that everyone can take part in if they want, from mysteries, court cases, auctions and more!
- Many incredible builds, there’s many talented builders on the server. Exploring the settlements alone can take hours if not days!
- PVP isn’t a big thing on our server, The modpack even has pvp toggle to avoid any unwanted combat
- Civilization, while we have various settlements there isn’t any real rivalry between them
- Tech progression, the modpack doesn’t have any tech mods. Create is only for decorations due to balance and performance reasons
